Time is perhaps one of the most mysterious elements in the universe. Its passage both affects and fascinated everyone. Many times we have thought about manipulating it, about going back in time or going forth to the future. However, such thoughts remain idle fantasies for the moment. Taking advantage of the human fascination regarding the passage of time, a kinetic steampunk bar opened in Romania. It is the first of its kind in the world and aims to touch each of its visitors on a personal level.
The Steampunk bar named Enigma Cafe opened in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. It was designed by The 6th Sense Interior and promoted through a Facebook campaign that stirred the curiosity of all those who laid eyes upon the photos of the cafe. Designers Alexandru Tohotan and Zoltan Zelenyak, known for works such as the Steampunk Submarine and Joben Bistro, have come up with a design that is unique in the entire world. The Steampunk bar resembles a giant moving clock that gives you the impression you are sitting inside it. The bar is decorated with dozens of finely crafted steampunk details such as rotating wheels, a live moving bird and a robot, flowers opening up to the ceiling, etc, creating a wondrous overall design.
“The notion of time is one of the most tempting there is and it affects all of us in a most personal way. This is why in our new design story, Enigma-The Machine, we are taking time to a very personal level. Indeed, at the center of it, is the ever visited idea of the time machine, but we all have to admit that there is more to time than just time travelling. Time is after all the material life is made of and all the details in between which are constantly added to the common act of growing and evolution are all time constrained,” wrote the designers of the steampunk bar on their website.
