When it comes to personal, luxury vehicles, yachts and automobiles are no longer enough. The richest of the rich ever strive for more. Whether it is a personal space shuttle, a concept plane that can turn into a car or perhaps a submarine, these people wish the have the latest technology in the vehicle domain at their disposal. As such, Deepflight has decided to rise to the challenge and develop an innovative, personal submarine: Deepflight Dragon.
Deepflight was founded in 1996 by ocean engineer Graham Hawkes. Gathering together a group of experienced designers and engineers, the company has created a new type of personal submarines, the Deepflight Dragon, a combination between a submersible and a high performance aircraft. This new submarine promises to be the most compact, lightweight personal submarine on the market. Moreover, by being incredibly intuitive and user-friendly, the Deepflight Dragon will get rid of the need for a pilot, allowing its own users to drive it.
“The DeepFlight Dragon came about because I was at a conference for electric aircraft and everyone was enamored with the idea of building a full-sized drone that people could fly easily,” explained Hawkes in an interview. “It suddenly occurred to me that I could do that underwater, now, and I’d better do it pretty quickly because if I didn’t do it, someone else would. So we put patents in, and the result is the DeepFlight Dragon.”
Moreover, going into detail about the user-friendly approach of the submarine, he added: “All the controls, everything about the Dragon has been designed for ease-of-use. It is so intuitively easy to use for the uninitiated, that I think this will become the first submarine that can go into a rental program, where a resort can rent it by the hour.”
The personal submarine will be released on the market at a price of US$1.5 million. What do you think about this new invention?
