Director Steven Spielberg made in 1992 the main photography for the famous film called Jurassic Park, on the island of Kauai, in Hawaii. Unfortunately, Hurricane Iniki passed directly over Kauai in September, forcing the film crew to lose precious time of shooting. They decided to shot the additional scenes for the film in Costa Rica and along the Chavon River, in eastern Dominican Republic. This place was also the setting for Francis Ford Coppola’s Vietnam War themed movie, “Apocalypse Now.”
