Video conference calls can be hard to plan if the suitable equipment is not available. Some companies prefer skipping the expense altogether, while other rely on heavy equipment that makes planning a video conference cumbersome. To make things easier and help businesses plan their teleconferences with more ease, Logitech has designed the ConferenceCam Connect, a portable gadget that can be easily placed in any office.
ConferenceCam Connect is a 1080p teleconferencing camera designed to work on Mac OS X 10.7 and higher, and Windows 7 or 8.1. The company has added that it will also work on some Chromebooks. In terms of teleconferencing software, the ConferenceCam Connect will come with everything from Microsoft Lync 2013, Cisco Jabber and WebEx, to Skype.
The conference camera features ZEISS-certified 90-degree lens which allow a small to medium conference room to appear in the shot. The system also has two omni-directional microphones, which are able to facilitate 360-degree voice communication with a 12-foot diameter range. The Miracast technology featured on the ConferenceCam Connect will allow users to mirror their screen from a Windows 8.1 or Android 4.3 device. This will allow them to share design ideas, charts, etc. during a meeting.
One last key feature of the teleconference camera is its remote. This remote will allow its users to take advantage of features such as the 4X zoom without having to stand and move around the room to reach the system. The remote docks in the back of the camera. This is due to the fact that the device is made to be moved from room to room whenever it is necessary.
Logitech is clearly aiming the new ConferenceCam to businesses, considering the multitude of features it boasts and the price tag. The device will be sold at a price of US$499.99. What do you think about it? Is it useful for teleconferencing purposes?
