You probably heard about this place as the QVB. This impressive building is a five-story shopping center that fills an entire city block with nearly 180 retailers. Queen Victoria Building was built in 1898 by architect George McRae. QVB was designed as a concert hall and marketplace. For some time, this building was used for office space and during the Great Depression it started to fall into decay. Gladly, Queen Victoria Building has been restored to its original glory and impresses now with an astonishing example of the Romanesque Revival style.
