‘Man is literally split in two: he has an awareness of his own splendid uniqueness in that he sticks out of nature with a towering majesty, and yet he goes back into the ground a few feet in order blindly and dumbly to rot and disappear forever’ – Ernest Becker

Silva, a very prolific speaker has performed at TedTalks, Google – several times, Microsoft and IBM or world-renowned advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi, amongst others. His fav topics are: innovation, creativity, tech and awes/wonders. One of the great wonders of life is transience and love, subjects he talks about in ‘Existential Bummer’. He says that when in love, people are both happy and sad; happy because of the ecstasy of that particular feeling, sad and melancholic because they can lose what/whom they love in an instant.
In the already mentioned video, this young motivational speaker puts a very pertinent, but hard to answer to question for people worldwide: How should we react to the fact that everything we love will eventually come to an end? What would your answer be to such a question? A lot of people seeing this are really touched by his words, some even burst out in tears, but most of all also go out and try to live life to the max from that very moment on. Because you do not really know for how long you can enjoy a certain ‘gift’ – friend, family member, beauty of nature, etc., that life has given you.
If interested in seeing more of his videos, just go to his YouTube channel, called ‘Shots of Awe’. You will find a wide series of his impressive, philosophic and so inspirational monologues. And now, go out, take a deep breath of fresh air and a look around, and live your life to the max, like there is no tomorrow!
