Often, in our every day life or during our travels, we come across scenes that we wish to capture forever. In those moments, we simply take out our smartphone and snap a photo. The image is saved, but what happens if an accident occurs? If we lose or phone or it simply breaks? In order not to lose those precious memories, the tiny, ‘zero ink’ Zink printer prints photos directly from our smartphone.
The Zink printer creates the photos without requiring ink. The 2-inch by 3-inch colour photo will be out in a minute. What’s more, the device is small and can be kept in a pocket or a purse. It is perfect for people who are always on the go and do not have enough space for a camera. The printer accesses the smartphone via Bluetooth, while the included app allows the user to crop, adjust and even add a caption to the image before printing it.
What is special about the Zink printer is that it does not use ink to print the photos. You need not worry about ink, toner or ribbons with it, nor about the fact that one day they will run out on you. Instead, the Zink printer uses heat to activate the colour-forming molecules that are already embedded in the ZINK paper. The paper hosts yellow, magenta and cyan dye crystals. When activated, the images will form and the colours will be vibrant and rich. Moreover, the designers of this device stated that the photographs are watermarked and resistant to fingerprints, dust or scratches.
The Zink printer is able to produce up to 20 prints after being charged for about one and a half hours. It has a micro USB adapter. This new device is handy and versatile, working both with iPhone and Android devices. With it you can print photos on the go, wherever you might be. Would you buy it?
