About 2 months ago, Nik Wallenda shocked the whole world when he decided to visit the Grand Canyon in a rather unusual way. Nik has actually successfully crossed the impressive American attraction on a high wire.
Naturally, Nik is now the first man to walk the Grand Canyon on tightrope only. The shoes Nik used were handmade, by his mother, and Nik used them for good luck. Even though achieving this has not been simple at all, Nik said that he never feared for his life. According to the record-breaker, the strong wind was his biggest enemy on his way to the other side of the Canyon. Nik had a microphone attacked to his clothing, so his remarks during the walk could be heard. At some point the record-breaker said that the wind was much worse than what he expected. The strong wind blew dust all over, also on Nik’s contact lenses, which made the journey even more difficult.
It took only 22 minutes for Nik to achieve his dream. At the end of the rope, Nik was supported by his loved ones, his family and friends. At the end of the race, Nik said that staying focused was one of the most difficult things for him.
Nik Wallenda is the first man who attempted and managed to complete a walk at 1500 ft above the Little Colorado River. He safely managed to make it across the wire and there were no incidents on the way. His attempt was watched on Discovery Channel by millions of people. Nik surely managed to create many headlines with his successful plan.
Nik is well known for setting several records. Last year he crossed Niagara Falls. His family includes many high-wire artists. A tragic event occurred when Nik’s grandfather fell to his death during a high wire walk in 1983. The event took place in Puerto Rico.
Well, Nik decided for a rather unusual way of experiencing the inner beauty of this miracle of the nature. What do you say about such an experience at the Grand Canyon?
