190 years ago, Frenchman Nicolas Rieussec invent one of the most important mechanisms in the history of watchmaking: chronograph. In 2012, the manufacturer shall submit an anniversary edition of the clock “Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph”. On the anniversary of this event, Montblanc launched a competition that causes people to show everyone how beautiful can be a single second.
Called “The beauty of a second”, the challenge is addressed to anyone with a digital camera, or even a mobile phone able to capture moving images. The only requirement for participants of the contest is to send a video of just one second in order to show how much beauty can be captured in this very short interval.
The first versions of the mechanical chronograph mechanism have belonged to George Graham, English clockmaker and inventor, but Nicolas Rieussec really managed to bring the invention to a usable form.
