Some of the best ways to film a scene for a movie or a television show is to shoot on location. Using a green screen to film entire structures and backgrounds usually is a bad idea because they have the tendency to look unnatural. These practices brought a lot of criticism from fans, so a physical and organic structure or location will always look better and fans will appreciate it. This beautiful castle is situated in Leicestershire County, England, and is famous for its extensive art collections. Belvoir Castle was home to the Manners family for hundreds of years, but it has also been the seat of the Duke of Rutland for almost three hundred years. To be mentioned that this castle was used as a set for a high number of television shows and movies, since the 1980s. However, the biggest movie that was filmed here is the famous The Da Vince Code starring Tom Hanks, followed by the film Young Sherlock Holmes.

The Eilean Donan Castle can be found on a small island of the same name in Loch Duich, the Western Highlands of Scotland. This impressive castle has also been used in many productions and films, starting with the 1940’s. However, probably the biggest movie filmed in this castle was the James Bond movie, The World Is Not Enough, starring Pierce Brosnan. To be mentioned that you will probably recognize this castle as being used in the first installment of the well-known Highlander series.

There probably is no other castle that has been used so many times in television and films as the Alnwick Castle. This famous castle is situated in Northumberland, England, and started to be used as a filming location since the 1960s. Some of the most famous movies filmed here are Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Black Adder, Down Town Abbey and three of the Harry Potter films, being used as the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
