IKEA stores are known for their home like showroom settings presented in the smallest detail that make customers want to recreate them in their own home.
To mark the opening of a new Ikea store near Tokyo’s Tachikawa Station, the famous Swedish company created a colorful, attractive showroom that offered something more than the traditional in-store arrangements. IKEA rugs, curtains, home accessories, coffee tables, end tables, comfortable couches, and vibrant patterns were used to decorate neither more nor less than one of the Tokyo’s monorail trains.
The train circulated for just two days as a mobile Ikea showroom and during all this period it wore engraved the «IKEA Party Train» sign. The train could be visited by only 75 lucky passengers selected via raffle. To make their train journey more pleasant, visitors were offered food and drinks and were entertained through a well-planned program full with games, quizzes and giveaways.
Through this unique pop-up showroom, the renowned Swedish furniture brand offered customers the possibility to interact in a fun way with its products, but in the same time managed to emphasize its convenience and functionality.
