When it comes to assembling furniture, some of us have more talent than others. While some prefer to assemble their new acquisitions themselves, others pay people to do so. It depends on each person’s dexterity.
Few pieces of furniture come without the need to assemble them. A new technique could be of use to everyone. What if there woudn’t be any need for screws and fastenings? Magnetic furniture could be assembled with ease, because their fastenings would be replaced by magnets.
The Magnetic Assisted Geometry (MAG) line is designed by Benjamin Vermeulen. So far, the pieces that form this collection are a chair, a table and a cabinet. All pieces are made of wood and steel. Powerful magnets are used to keep the parts of the furniture together. As a result, all three objects can be easily disassembled and reassembled.
These actions do not compromise the structural integrity of the magnetic furniture. You no longer have to worry that you will lose an essential screw or any other important part. Moreover, parts can be replaced with extreme ease.
The line looks attractive and modern. Unfortunately, it remains unknown when the magnetic furniture line will hit the market. We can hope it will be in the nearby future. Who would not want to get rid of all the hard to use “assemble it yourself” manuals, the packs of screws and the many tools needed to assemble normal furniture?
The magnetic furniture line was designed by Vermeulen upon his graduation from Design Academy Eindhoven. Would you like to use such furniture in your home?
