Ludwick Marishane was 17, sunbathing in the winter sun with his friends in Limpopo province from South Africa, when one of his friends complaint that nobody invented some sort of magic product that could relive him by the effort and time to do a bath.
Ludwick realized that he would also be glad to use this kind of product to support his own laziness, so with the idea stuck in his mind he began to do very seriously research. He didn’t found any similar product on the market and in six month he came up with a formula for the world’s first germicidal bath substituting skin gel.
Ludwick Marishane made all his research using just his web-enabled basic cellphone because he didn’t have a computer. During his research Ludwick realized this his product will be more than a solution for lazy persons, but a life saver for people who don’t have access to clean water or sanitation. He found out that lack of clean water is one of the main causes of the infections in poor areas and that 2.5 billion people from Africa and other parts of the developing world are in this situation. Moreover there are many areas where people have no access to any water at all and they have to walk long distances to get fresh water.
Within a year after he wrote his formula, Ludwick Marishane create a 40-page business plan, all done on his Nokia mobile, and applied for a patent. Then, he launched his business, an invention-development company which he called Headbody Industries. He also named his innovative lotion Dry Bath.
Four year after he launched his business, Ludwick made the big hit in 2011 by winning the organization’s Global Student Entrepreneur of the Year award, along with $10,000. Ludwick beat out 1,600 other student nominees from all parts of the world.
At this moment Ludwick Marishane is the youngest patent holder in South Africa and his innovative product is manufactured commercially for clients such as hotels, airlines, armies, charities, retailers. The product is not yet available for consumer use, but promises are that it will be soon online.
A 15 ml DryBath® sachet is greatly portable and is enough to cover the average human body. In future the producer promises DryBath® tubes in 150 ml that replaces 10 baths and 250 ml tubes that equalizes 16 baths.
