IKEA has managed to gather an impressive number of followers on social media. Millions of people like their page and stay updated with the Swedish furniture retailer. It was only obvious that the furniture titan would invest time and efforts into social media, thus creating amazing campaigns on Facebook. IKEA has separate Facebook pages for its different markets: the UK has its own page, Australia as well and so on. 1. IKEA UK store sleepover
As a result of a Facebook fan group called “I wanna have a sleepover in IKEA”, which gathered almost 100,000 people, IKEA actually organized a sleepover in a warehouse of a UK store. 100 people were lucky enough to get the chance of sleeping in IKEA, along with a gift manicure, massages, bedtime stories and a sleep expert on hand to discuss possible issues.
2. Wedding in Australia
IKEA Australia launched a competition for couples in order to win a dream wedding in a store in Sydney. More than 500 couples applied, and one lucky couple got their wedding in an IKEA store on Valentine’s Day. The hour long ceremony reunited family and friends of the couple and also 80 Facebook fans.
3. Bedroom Makeover in Hong Kong
In 2011, IKEA launched a competition called Bedroom Makeover, offering the people in Hong Kong the chance of winning 10,000 dollars worth of furniture.
Fans had to submit a photo of themselves on Facebook, and explain how furniture from IKEA could help them sleep better. A public vote decided the 10 finalists, and 3 winners were selected by the store. The winners had 90 seconds to get as much products as possible in their trolleys.
