Performance and Style: Audi E-bike
1Who says you can’t mix business and pleasure? When it comes to bikes, Audi wishes to prove that you can have comfort, style and practicality all wrapped in one package. The Audi e-bike Wörthersee was revealed on the 11th of May in Germany. This particular gadget gives its owner three choices: you can either use it as a classic, human-powered bike, as an electric model or by combining the two options and using both the pedaling and the electric motor. The bike has a lock that can be controlled by using a smartphone and a Segway-inspired “wheelie mode”. It also has a trip computer that allows you to control the riding mode and record your tricks.
Apart from the pure program, which allows to user to pedal normally, the Audi e-bike has five different programs to choose from. In the “Pedelec” mode, which is the electric powered program, the Audi e-bike can reach up to 80 km/h (50 mph).
The bike is made of ultralight carbon fiber and weighs 46 pounds. According to the manufacturer, the Audi e-bike’s frame weighs only 1.6 kg and the battery that powers it up weighs 5 kg.
Apparently, the Audi e-bike is the most powerful e-bike presented so far. Unfortunately it is only a prototype; those interested in having such a gadget in their homes will have to wait some time until it becomes available to the public.
