Here are the short reviews of new best iphone apps 2012.

Sky News app

The new version of the Sky News app has picture galleries, interactive images, graphs and timelines, and a live blogging page for all the major news stories that incorporates Twitter updates, too. In addition to UK, World, Politics, Business and Showbiz news, there’s now a Technology section. At the moment, these changes are only available to iOS users, but Sky does have plans to update the Android version “later this year”.

Sky has also launched a Sky Sports app for iPad. This offers a Formula One Companion Experience that makes following races easier, with a choice of multiple camera angles and real-time highlights during each event. The app also streams Sky Sports channels 1 to 4, Sky Sports News and the Sky F1 channel, but only to Sky TV or Sky Go customers.

Instagram

This addictive photo-sharing app, bought by Facebook for $1billion and now on Android, lets you add filter effects and tilt-shift blurs and borders to create unique images from your phone’s camera. You can share the images on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Foursquare or by email, and they will also appear on your Instagram account’s news feed, where they can be rated and commented upon.

Min requirements: Android 2.2+, iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, iOS 3.1.2+ File size: 13MB

Wrapp

Wrapp lets you send your Facebook friends gift cards and vouchers. They include a free five-day Fitness First membership, and £20 to spend at Rosetta Stone or eHarmony. You can buy other vouchers, including £5 to spend in Pizza Express and Warehouse. Because the app has only just launched in the UK, the choice is limited at the moment, and you can only log in using Facebook.

Min requirements: Android 2.1+, iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, iOS 4.1+ File size: 7MB

Mail.com

Read, send and manage emails from all your accounts with Mail.com. Its homepage widget shows your most recent messages, lets you compose, reply or forward emails directly, notifies you of incoming emails and can sync multiple addresses to a single account. Mail.com offers free accounts with unlimited storage, or you can choose from more than 200 domain names.

Min requirements: Android 2.0+, iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, iOS 4.0+ File size: 3.5MB

GroupMe

Organise events, share photos or chat with friends using GroupMe. You can join any open group conversations, and invite contacts from Facebook and Twitter to join, too. The app uses your data allowance, but if you’ve got poor web signal, it automatically switches to sending messages via SMS, and reverts back again when your signal improves. You can add your location and see group members on a map.

Min requirements: Android 2.1+, iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, iOS 4.0+, BlackBerry 5.0+, Windows Phone 7.5+ File size: 3.5MB
