Do you have a close friend who will be walking down the aisle soon? Then your friend deserves to be thrown a fabulous hen party she will remember for the rest of her life. Planning a hen party sounds like a lot of fun, but when you get into it, it can be time-consuming and even stressful for a hostess. To help you with the planning process, we have listed our top do’s and don’ts below, beginning with whom to include on the guest list.

DO: Invite All of Her Friends (Including Her Mum!)
This day is all about the bride-to-be, so it is important to make sure that those who are nearest and dearest to her will be part of her day. Some personalities may clash, which is why it is a good idea to break up the day into two separate events—a daytime event (such as spending the day being pampered at a spa), and a night-time event (host a sexy party with drinks and sensual products and then head out to one of the hottest clubs in town). This way, different people will be able to attend different events, and you can keep any drama, which would otherwise ruin your bride’s time, at bay.

DON’T: Break the Bank
Your adult party plan can quickly get out of hand if you are not paying close attention to your budget. Set a realistic budget as soon as possible and ask any of the guests to chip in the same amount. The sooner you set the budget, the more quickly you will have money collected from your attendees.

DO: Discuss Plans with the Bride
All too many times well-intentioned hen party planners throw their bride a surprise hen party, only to soon realise that everything they planned were things she hates. Going out to a bar dressed in a fake wedding dress may be the ideal party for some, but others may simply want a quiet weekend getaway with a few of her closest friends. Ask questions, such as:

  • What does your dream hen party look like?
  • What mood do you want to have that day?
  • Do you want to stay local or get out of town?

DON’T: Be Afraid To Try New Things
Traditional hen parties where only girls are in attendance may be ideal for some brides, while others may want to have a “co-ed” party where she meets up with her beau and his pals later on in the evening. When discussing plans with the guest of honour, make sure you have a clear understanding of what she wants for her special day.

DO: Bring a Pair of Flats
One of the best tips, which all experienced hen party attendees know is that it is crucial to have a pair of flats in your tote if you want your feet to survive until the end of the night. Be sure to pack a pair for the bride-to-be!
