Hybrid breeds of dogs, especially poodle mixed breeds, are becoming more and more popular for a lot of reasons. Poodles are naturally very intelligent as well as one of the most hypoallergenic dogs when it comes to the problem of excessive shedding as a lot of poodles hardly shed at all. Because of this, mixing poodles with other dogs breeds will help blend the characteristics of both poodle and other dogs, in this case a Bernese mountain dog. When the type of poodle used is a toy poodle, what you get is a Miniature Bernedoodle.
Lots of Love in a smaller Body
Mini Bernedoodles are great for people who live in apartments or have smaller homes, because it cuts down on the size. Because of the poodle aspect, minibernadoodles don’t shed nearly as much as a lot of other dogs, making cleaning up a quick and painless process. Similar to a Goldendoodle, miniature bernedoodles are very smart, however they are more laid back and loyal than their golden retriever counterparts. Not only do they have a lot of personality, but they get along great with children and other pets.
Training Concerns
It’s important that you train your dog right, to limit the amount of misbehavior and undesirable traits in them as they grow older. As a breed, mini bernedoodles are very smart which makes them very easy to train. This is a great aspect for people who have little to no experience when it comes to dog training. However, the drawback to the intelligence is that your dog can get bored if it doesn’t get enough love, exercise and attention.
If you’re dog gets bored, it can lead towards misbehavior or destructive tendencies, which should be avoided. With a little time and attention, and the right training, this should be an issue.
A Difference in Size
Depending on their parentage, mini bernedoodles can vary a great deal in size, anywhere between 26-50 lbs. If it’s a 2nd generation mini (one bred with a toy poodle) then they will range between 12-26 lbs. Depending on the amount of space you have in your apartment or home, you might want to consider getting a 2nd generation, as they are smaller and more compact.
Miniature Bernedoodles are a wonderful breed of dog, not only for apartment dwellers, but as a family pet in general. This very friendly and highly adaptable breed works well in a lot of different living situations. The most important thing to understand, is that having a dog, in particular a puppy, is a huge commitment of time.
You dog needs a lot of your love and attention in order to not only grow up healthy, but well behaved as well. Make sure you understand everything that goes into the breed and what traits and qualities you need to expect due to it’s parentage. With the right understanding, as well as a lot of love and treats, your dog will grow up to be another member of the family. So if you’re looking for a lot of dog in a smaller body, consider a Miniature Bernedoodle for the next addition to your home and family.
