We’re now in spring and we have already seen a shift in many fashion trends from 2022. Many people give things up for lent, and others try to improve themselves in some way or form. Whether this is quitting smoking, giving up takeaways, starting a new hobby, or upgrading your wardrobe. People do their own self-improvement in their own way. If you are fashion-focused, then you will notice that there have been some terrible fashion trends last year, and you may be embarrassed to admit that you are one who has some of these. The sad truth is that they won’t be coming back into fashion any time soon, so you may have a few pieces you won’t wear again. If you do, don’t throw them away, give them to charity or pop them on Vinted and make some extra cash.

This isn’t to say you need to change your wardrobe every year as this would be extremely unethical and unsustainable, but by giving them away, you are giving them a new life. You may love some of these trending items, and hey! Who are we to judge? But we can tell you now that when you look back at old pictures as you did with your parents, you and your children will be wondering why on earth you were wearing these. In this article, we will go through some of the biggest fashion trends to leave behind in 2022.

Crocs

It’s no secret that shoes make or break an outfit, some would even say its the cherry on top of the cake. You could be the blessed dressed in any room, but if you don’t have the right shoes to match the outfit, it can all fall apart pretty quickly. The same goes with the new hype of streetwear, bad shoes means a bad outfit. So why are people so caught up with the Crocs culture? They are without doubt one of the ugliest things (not shoes) to have ver come out of fashion, but people still persist to wear them.

You can not elevate and outfit wearing Crocs, and you certainly can’t be taken seriously if your out in them. If you do have a pair, there are two things you need to know. The first is that you should keep them indoors at all times. The second is that if you have a pair, there are probably going to be a lot of items in your wardrobe that you need to think long and hard about as they will probably need to go to charity.

Sling Bags

There are just some items that some people can’t live without, a sling bag is not one of those things. Although they are a functional piece, they are not designed to fit a lot in them, they are also super ugly. Most of these bags will only fit your phone, wallet and passport, but nothing more. The bags are pointless, ugly and in the UK, they are mostly owned by chavs who wear tracksuits every day.

The Mullet

Stranger things brought a range of different fashion trends back from the dead, the Mullet was just one of those god awful trends. It was definitely a popular hairstyle to own in 2022, but it needs to stay back in 2022. With it having such a bad press for decades, its absolutely shocking that it came back in style. With Gen Z wanting to reminisce about a past they have no idea what it was about, and the influence of TikTok it is one of those quick trends that wont be around long enough, thank goodness.

Yeah sure, most people like to be unique these days, and that absolutely fine! In fact, we encourage it, but this is one style that isnt unique anymore, its just ugly. Instead, opt for a simpler hairstyle that is versatile enough to do a range of styles with.

Wraparound Shades

Luxury streetwear has become increasingly popular in recent years, with some of the worlds tops brands bringing out designer tracksuits, luxury sliders and much more. One thing they have not done is bring out a range of wraparound shades. You know why? Its because it isn’t streetwear, it isn’t fashion, it’s for athletes such as cyclists and marathon runners.

There are many things you can do with these, if you are a genuine athlete, keep it to that. If you are not, then give them to an athlete, give them to charity or whatever gets them away from your new and improved style. What to wear instead? Well the most important part about finding the right sunglasses is to learn what shapes suit your face shape, once you know this, then the world is your oyster.

Skinny Jeans

For some, this will feel like a bit of a culture shock, others will be glad that this trend is finally dying out. Gone are the days of skinny jeans, for a more relaxed, but not baggy fit. Gents, this means you can let the boys breathe once more! For millennials, this has been fashion for the best part of over a decade, which means that many will feel pretty strange wearing a pair of jeans that arent strangling your legs. Yeah it looks great, especially if your wearing a pair of loafers and a shirt, but this trend has to end at some point.

Fast Fashion

Fast fashion needs to drop the act now, with more and more fast fashion brands coming out, it is becoming a saturated market where not many brands are succeeding. These “brands” create cheaply manufactured fashion conscious items that you see in all of the high-street stores are only made for one thing, the trash. They are not designed to last and they won’t even last as long as the trend it is trying to achieve. Not only is it harming the planet, it exploits workers in developing countries.

There are a number of ways you can help to stop this trend, and that is through purchasing quality items over quantity. By ensuring you buy quality items, you are also checking whether the piece will last, instead of ending up in the bin. The best way to do this is through researching brands before you commit to the purchase.

If you still have skinny jeans in your wardrobe, this will be the last year where you won’t look different with them, because they are being moved out the way for more relaxed fits. We mean this, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find a pair of skinny jeans in stores, which means you have to go to fast fashion brands to find them, which is just not okay.
