The first and the initial idea that you get once you think about having a party is how much fun you will have and about all the cool people that you’ll meet there. And then, after that first thought, you start to worry once you realize that you need to take care about all that stuff concerning the party. This means all the little things and details that make the party great are your responsibility. It is not that hard when you have a good organization. It is all about taking it one step at the time.
Make a Guest List
This is the first thing that you should do. Depending on the type of the party, you will invite different people. With that in mind, it will be much easier to pick everything else. Once you know the crowd, you will be able to know more about their affinities and about what they would truly enjoy. This means that, if you are having a party for people from your office, perhaps you will more likely choose something of a sit down party than a crazy night out in a club. Also, once you make a list, you need to make sure that you know who is coming and who is not. Make the invitations RSVP since the number of people will be essential in choosing the venue, especially when it comes to the size.
Pick a Theme
Now that you have a guest list, look at the names on it and begin thinking about the stuff that they love. If you and your friends like Star Wars and similar stuff, you may want to have it as a theme. If you are into plain old fun, you may want to have a karaoke party. Other themes that you may want to consider are: roaring twenties, ordinary costume party, party quiz and many others. That gives people something to talk about and something that brings them together. Therefore, it is fun to have it. Even if there are those who don’t go with the theme, it is still fine.
Pick a Place
The place is the next thing that you need to think about. You need to know about your theme and about your guest list in order to pick the right place. The place needs to be big enough and it needs to have all the things necessary in order for your party to work. For example, if you are going for a nice karaoke party, you will need a screen and the speakers, as well as the mike. A stage wouldn’t hurt either. On the other hand, it is much better to make a BBQ get together, if you have a backyard and if you can keep it outside. Also, always make sure that there is enough place for everyone or people will feel unwelcome.
Consider Food and Drinks
Since the number of people, the theme and the venue are taken care off, it is time to think about the food and the drinks. Costume parties, karaoke parties and other lively and active parties won’t really go well with the set tables and full dinners. They will be much better off with a nice buffet and the ice buckets full of beer bottles or even some chardonnay wine. If you are planning the party together with some friends, you can agree that everybody brings something to the party, both food and drinks. You should coordinate with people who agree to bring something so that you don’t end up with a lot of food that is all the same and pretty much unusable.
The entertainment is very important for parties on which the guest list is such that people don’t know watch other very well. Focusing on a joint goal, like answering the quiz questions, watching something, or listening to the band is a nice way to take the edge off the fact that you don’t really know those people and that they need an ice breaker in order to continue communicating. Therefore, you need to do your best to have good entertainment. Old buddies and people who know each other for a long time will probably be better off with a good DJ.
