Comparison

When you compare Galaxy C5 with C7, you will find that both share majority of their hardware.

In terms of design, both are same.

Both the models have 4GB of RAM with expandable storage of 32GB or 64GB.

Hardware

With Samsung Galaxy C5, you are going to get a sturdy metal unibody, which is smudge resistant. The materials used in the phone are top notch.

On the front portion of the mobile, you will get a typical feel of the Samsung. Furthermore, there is subtle colour accents in the camera with a much bigger home button. The back portion of the phone is also very clean. The sides are traditional, to say the least. As is the case with most phones these days, there is a hybrid slot rather than a dedicated memory card slot.

Display

When it comes to display, Samsung never disappoints. Punchy colours and high contrast are prevalent in Samsung Galaxy C5. The 1080p Full HD resolution makes sure that you get a pixel density in the vicinity of 424ppi. There is nothing to worry about to be honest.

With regard to performance, C5 offers you infinite contrast.

When the brightness level is hundred percent, phone maxes out at 424 nits.

Colour accuracy is quite exceptional. And there is no denying the fact that company has done some positive upgrade with the factory colour calibration. To get the correct colour reproduction, you need to enable Basic mode.

Simply put, the display of the phone is tremendous.

Connectivity

With two nano SIM slots in place, the network speed is capped to only Cat.4, despite X8 modem that is there in the Snapdragon 617 having a capacity of Cat.7. This looks like a market decision, but that is the drawback with the C5.

Other Internet connectivity options that you have with Samsung Galaxy C5 include Wi-Fi a/b/g/n. The bad news is that there is no presence of 802.11ac. Local connectivity consists of Bluetooth 4.2 alongside ANT+ support.

The microUSB 2.0 port takes charge of the data. But with USB OTG, you can easily employ external hardware.

There is FM radio on the phone.

Software

This latest Samsung phone features Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with TouchWiz UI. The latest Android version provides cool features such as app manager, Google Now and Doze mode.

The whole interface of Samsung Galaxy C5 looks pretty refined. There is not much clutter thanks to the UI; everything looks well organized.

The lock screen behaves exactly the same way as any Samsung model will do, offering swipe to unlock with fast shortcuts also available on the bottom.

The unlock speed is slower, but when you include the accuracy aspect into it, there is no compromise on the overall experience.

When it comes to organization, the company has you covered with colour-coded folders on the home screen and the app drawer. By default, the notification area is quite busy. It begins with a scrollable line of fast toggles followed by a brightness slider and the Quick Connect button. You can get it rearrange through the Edit option.

If you are not happy with the default look of TouchWiz, there is no need to worry about as the interface of this phone is completely themeable. Multitasking is a piece of cake with Samsung Galaxy C5. Advanced features are included so rest assured; you will feel at ease all the time. It’s worth it.

Verdict

The mid-range line-up of Samsung is increasing day by day, what they want to achieve through it is hard to know.

Media reports say they are doing this after conducting plenty of market research with lots of emphasis being put on the country demographics as well.

That said, Galaxy C5 does not appeal as a phablet on the price front. And with nothing much to speak about regarding new processor architecture, you can say its same Samsung model, with improvement on the hardware front.

Samsung Galaxy C5 price in India is set to be Rs24775, and it is a decent mobile, offering you plenty in terms of features.
