Australia and South Africa In West Indies Tri-Series, 2016

The 2016 West Indies Tri-Series is an exciting upcoming tri-nation series that is due to take place in June 2016 in the West Indies. The tournament is scheduled to take place over ten action-packed days and will feature teams from the West Indies, South Africa and Australia. Games will take place in a variety of prestigious locations, with three games due to be played in both Guyana and St Kitts. The three final games of the tournament will be played at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, with the final also taking place there.

The hotly anticipated tournament pits three of the world’s current top teams against each other, giving cricket fans in the West Indies region the chance to see some of the sport’s top players in what promises to be a thrilling competition.

If you’re not based in the region and you fancy a sunshine break complete with sporting entertainment, there is still time to secure tickets before the cricket balls start flying. Each international team will play the other two teams a total of three times ahead of the final on Sunday 26th June, giving you plenty of chances to see your favourite international players in action. There are tickets available for various games in Guyana, St Kitts and Barbados.

South Africa’s first West Indies visit since 2010

The 2016 West Indies Tri-Series marks the first time South Africa’s cricket team has played in the region since 2010. On that occasion, South Africa swept to a convincing win over the West Indies, winning two T20Is and an impressive five ODIs. This tally included a 2-0 Test series win of three matches over the West Indies. South Africa is due to play in the first two games of the 2016 West indies Tri-Series, going up against Australia on the 6th June in Guyana before taking on the West Indies team two days later.

Australia last played in the West Indies in 2012

The Australian cricket team last played in the region in March 2012, when it played a series of one-day internationals. The hosts and visitors each won two one-day internationals and tied one. Australia currently tops both the ICC Test Rankings table and the ICC ODI table, which means the tournament will give local fans the chance to see some of the best players in the world.

The action kicks off when South Africa faces the other visitors, Australia, in Guyana on 6th June at 14:30 local time. All subsequent matches also take place at 14:30 local time but may be subject to change closer to the event.
