St. Louis Cemetery #1
Perhaps no place in the United States is as haunted as New Orleans. The Big Easy has three cemeteries called “St. Louis” but the first one is the one which is rumored to be the biggest haven for hauntings. The cemetery itself has a ghoulish history. It opened in 1789 as a replacement for St. Peter Cemetery, which burned down in 1788. It is said that at least 100,000 people are buried inside a spot that is no larger than the size of a city bock. Tourists flock to St. Louis Cemetery #1 to see the famous voodoo queen Marie Laveu, priestess of worldwide fame. It is said that if you put three X’s on her tomb, she will grant you a wish!
