Here are 4 roadside attractions to add to your road trip list this summer.
Musée des Arts Forains – Paris, France
Old-time carnivals once reigned supreme, promising magic and delights for all who attended, but carnivals are no more in this modern age. Musée des Arts Forains is dedicated to preserving the lore of carnivals. The brightly-decorated space sits inside ancient wine warehouses in the Bercy neighborhood of Paris, and holds thousands of artifacts. It’s a magical place where the museum turns every prop and ride into actors, and you’re witness to a living show. The museum is part of the Pavillons de Bercy, and is described as a “Belle-Époque fairground space,” meaning inspired by the “Beautiful Age,” 1871-1914. You can visit only by appointment and guided tours are offered.
