A new restaurant in Washington D.C. aims to revolutionize your perception of American food. America Eats Tavern, located inside the Ritz Carlton at Tysons Corner, is on a mission to reintroduce Americans to their food heritage. The concept is the product of a collaboration between internationally recognized chef José Andrés and the National Archives.
Andrés was named on of Time’s 100 Most Influential People due to his restaurant empire and focus on locally sourced and sustainable food and beverages. A new American citizen, Andrés was motivated by his love of America and its diverse culinary history. Among the historical cookbooks that Andrés displays in the restaurant is a notebook kept by George Washington’s personal chef. Andrés dedicated his new restaurant to “Michael Batterberry, my dear friend who achieved more than anybody in celebrating America’s culinary traditions, and Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, who told me if you love America, America will always love you back.”
