Halloween is rapidly approaching and everyone is trying to get into the spirit of the holiday. Costumes are being bought, masks are made and houses get decorated in a scary fashion all over the world. Originally a Celtic holiday called Samhain, as centuries passed the holiday was adopted in various parts of the world. Nowadays, people are trying to discover spooky ways in which they can have the most fun on Halloween. One such method is visiting haunted hot spots, such as cemeteries, castles and even haunted hotels or houses.
Below we will present three famous haunted hotels that Halloween lovers can visit on the 31st of October.
1. Talbot Hotel, Oundle, England
During the 17th century, Fotheringhay Castle was the place where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned and later decapitated. Though the castle was destroyed, the staircase remained and it was incorporated in a new building, Talbot Hotel. Guests staying at the hotel claim to have seen a lady in black, roaming the hallways and seeking revenge. Some believe it is Mary herself. The appearance of the ghost had often been described as intense, the lady in black being the best documented ghost in all of Britain.
2. Ballygally Castle Hotel, Ballygally, Northern Ireland
Another spot on our list of haunted hotels is a castle, Ballygally Castle located in Northern Ireland. This castle was built in 1625 by James Shaw of Scotland and turned into a hotel in modern times. As it often happens with old buildings, this hotel is said to be the home of numerous ghosts. One is Lady Isobel Shaw that was imprisoned in her room and starved by her husband. Another ghosts is said to walk down corridors in a silk dress. Paranormal specialists detected dozens of ghosts in the castles, many of them residing in the so called ghost room, a small room that is not offered to visitors.
3. The Driskill, Austin, Texas
Sometimes owners are none too keen on leaving their former homes. The same can be said about Driskill, the last place on our list of haunted hotels. Jesse Lincoln Driskill, the former owner of the hotel is said to haunt to place. Moreover, a woman who committed suicide is still said to roam the fourth floor, whispering and crying.
