Throughout the years, we find out that sometimes construction projects can take more than expected. Even if that’s understandable, there are some famous buildings that remain unfinished from several years. To start a construction only needs a bit of money and some employees to get the work done. However, finances existed, but the complexity and the lack of vision to complete such projects seems to have lacked, thus they are yet to be finished. Even so, these buildings and structures are beautiful just the way they are and hundreds of tourists are coming every year to see them. Here are three unfinished famous buildings.

Ajuda National Palace is a famous tourist attraction that can be found in Lisbon. This incredible building was the official residence of the Portuguese royal family. With such a title, everyone expected for this building to be placed on the Portuguese builders’ priority list. Well, it seems that it wasn’t. Ajuda National Palace’s construction began in 1796 and it was never actually completed. A series of wars and even lack of finances led to a long series of interruptions. At the moment, the half-finished building functions as a museum.

Westminster Cathedral is located right down the street from the Westminster Abbey, which is known to be the one of most beautiful and famous churches in the world. Even with such location, Westminster Cathedral has never actually been completed. Its construction is still ongoing and when entering this cathedral you will realize that the entire interior is undecorated. This is a very unusual thing, especially for a Catholic church. Westminster Cathedral’s construction work has started in 1895 and it seems that it was too expensive to be completed.

Woodchester Mansion is famous because it appeared in several ghost-hunter type TV shows. During the years, a mental hospital was interested to buy this building and even soldiers during the World War II were stationed in the surrounding area. It is very interesting because no one has ever lived here. A man named William Leigh commissioned this great mansion but he never had the money to finish it. The rumors are claiming that he was a perfectionist and he personally supervised the construction, meaning that the half that’s built is perfect. Even if it is completely unfinished inside, Woodchester Mansion is open to visitors who are interested to see it.
