You get a match made in heaven that promotes cat adoption and make each yoga class adorable.
In order to promote cat adoption, a no-kill pet shelter called Homeward Bound teamed up with the yoga studio Yoga at Connie. The two decided to hold a special yoga class where the participants practiced alongside several adorable adult cats. “I love cats, so obviously it was going to be great,” yoga teacher Connie Pease explained in an interview. “It was an opportunity for people who like cats to help the shelter.” While the students practiced on their mats, the cats wandering among them. Some of the bravest felines even tried to mimic their poses or made poses of their own.
The shelter volunteer who came up with the idea for the event explained that many people find shelters depressing and refrain from visiting them. However, by bringing the cats to them, they have the opportunity to interact with the cats outside that environment. Moreover, the cats receive exposure and are able to show off their personality more freely.
Six cats mingled without a care in the world among the yogis. Some of the demanded belly rubs and snuggled next to the students. Others were glad enough to watch from a distance.“The ones that were really active really made the class a lot of fun,” Pease added. “They jumped on the students and kissed them. One had their butt in my face, but we had so much fun with them.” During the event, the shelter was able to raise $500 and one of the cats was even adopted.
