Finding the right accommodation spot can be tricky if the person who is travelling needs to rent a room that combines leisure space with a specially designed workplace. Sometimes, even when we are on holiday, we bring our work with us. But not many hotels or rental rooms are able to provide a space that is able to offer more than a simple desk. The Zoku loft is rentable micro-apartment that is able to combine leisure and work space with success.
The Zoku loft is a rentable 25 sq m (269 sq ft) micro-apartment. Despite its limited space, the loft manages to give the impression of a home-office hybrid that somehow also manages to fit a small kitchen inside.
“The advance of technology has changed personal and professional lifestyles,” explained Hans Meyer the co-founder and managing director of Zoku. “Boundaries between work and leisure are fading, and blurring borders have made people more mobile than ever.”
The Zoku loft is doing its best to combine compact and hybrid living for short term owners. In order to do so it takes advantage of built-in units that give the shape of the room, hidden spaces used for storage and many versatile features. The Zoku loft splits the functional and living spaces. It has a built-in unit, rising above the entrance passageway on both sides and going across its top.
In one side of the lower unit, guests can find a bathroom. In the other side they can discover the work space: a desk and storage. The kitchen area is just around the corner. Across from the kitchen you can find even more storage space, a TV and a retractable staircase that goes to the upper unit.
The upper unit holds the sleeping area which can be closed off from the rest of the house with wooden panels. The staircase can also be hidden when visitors come to the Zoku loft. In addition, the room features a four person table where you can eat or simply relax.
