Sometimes our jobs can take us in places we would have never imagined before. They can lead us to foreign countries, to the peaks of some of the highest mountains or perhaps down the shores of the most exotic beaches. However, depending on where we work, our job can also put us in danger. A photographer from Pakistan realized this when his work put him face to face with a hungry lion that was moments away from mauling him.
Atif Saeed is a 38 year old nature photographer from Pakistan. While he was at the safari zoo from Lahore, the man spotted a male lion in the distance. This was for him the perfect chance to snap some beautiful pictures of the lion. As he got out of the jeep and started capturing images of the majestic feline, the lens’ sound attracted the attention of the animal. Instead of returning to the car, to safety, the photographer remained in place and continued taking photos.
“I was thinking – I must show the character and status of lion and this was the only way I could think of to achieve this,” Saeed explained in an interview for Dailymail. The photographer was siting in the grass a mere 10 feet away from the lion. He was forced to retreat quickly when the animal started coming towards him and jumped.
“I was sitting in front of him just near my car and the door of my car was open. I was sat on ground few feet away, so he was treating me like his prey… I was laughing at that time, but now when I think back about the incident I don’t think I would be able to do it again. It was a pretty close encounter,“ he added.
Despite the danger involved in this situation, the photographer managed to capture several truly stunning photos of the hungry lion. Have you heard of other such daring tales?
