Hotels have come a long way from the simple, elegant buildings we are all accustomed to. Nowadays we have Ice Hotels, Tree House Hotels and even a Giraffe Manor. We can find some of these hotels on the high peaks of the mountains, while others have underwater rooms or futuristic sci-fi designs. However, in Holland a different approach has been given to a particular hotel. Vliegtuigsuite Teuge is an impressive hotel destination: an airplane hotel.
The airplane hotel also known as Airplane Suite is stationed in the Teuge Airport, in The Netherlands. The plane was originally built in 1960. It served as a government plane for international flight for a period of 20 years. Afterwards, the plane was transformed into a restaurant for the following 15 years. It was finally converted into a hotel in 2007.
The Ilyushin 18 that had once transported members of the German Democratic Republic government was turned into a luxury suite for two. The plane is 40 meters long and features all sort of amenities that would definitely make a stay at the airplane hotel unforgettable. For starters, people checking in at this hotel can enjoy a Jacuzzi, shower and an infrared sauna. The living area features a minibar, three Flat screen TVs, Blu-ray DVD / entertainment combo completed with a selection of DVDs.
The luxury suite would not be complete however without a pantry with oven/microwave combination, wireless internet and air-conditioning that makes sure the inside of the plane does not get stuffy. The price tag per night is approximately $350. It is a bit pricey, but the suite is far from being a normal hotel room. It features no neighbors and even gives you access to the cockpit of the plane that has been left untouched. Would you be interested to spend some free days at the airplane hotel?
