Smartphones are an important part of our lives nowadays. We take calls, send emails, schedule meetings and play Candy Crush on them. Sometimes, if the device is high tech enough, we can even watch Netflix. Still, with technology advancing as it does, it comes as no surprise that some companies try to come up with more compact devices to replace smartphones. Neptune Duo is a smartwatch made by Neptune that aims to do just that.
The Neptune Duo, as its name states is a system made of two parts. The first part is a standalone 4G smartwatch called the Neptune Hub. However, as is the case with all smartwatches, this device lacks the advantage of a wide screen. Therefore, the second part of the system is the “Pocket Screen” which looks like a smartphone, but reverses the roles between smartwatch and smartphone.
According to the Neptune Duo system, the watch lives up to the “smart” part of the name, while the screen comes in handy for viewing larger-form content. Still, the question arises, why bother with this particular system if all you get at the end of the day is still a smartphone and a smartwatch? The company’s answer is simple. By switching the traditional roles of the two gadgets, the user is less likely to forget the watch at home and thus all the information he needs is strapped to his wrist. Moreover, since the Pocket Screen is just an accessory, you can leave it behind or even borrow one from a friend. However, none of you personal data is lost.
Neptune Duo’s Hub runs Android 5.0 Lollipop and has a custom UI. It features a 2.4-in touchscreen, a quad core processor and 64 GB of storage. The Pocket Screen on the other hand has a 5-in 720p display and comes with two cameras: 8MP and 2 MP .
What do you think of the system devised for Neptune Duo?
