Malé is the capital and also the most visited city in the Maldives. This beautiful and small island city homes over 100,000 people. As you can see, there is no surrounding countryside and this means that all infrastructure has to be situated in the city itself. The electric power is generated in the city using diesel generators and the water is provided from desalinated ground water. Malé is an interesting city with an impressive infrastructure.

You can find Flores on Lake Petén Itzá, which is connected to land by a causeway. Nearby Flores lies the twin towns of San Benito and Santa Elena. Tourists are coming to visit this beautiful island city especially for the famous Maya ruins of Tikal. However, Flores itself is an amazing destination, filled with red-roofed buildings, a historic church, narrow cobblestone streets and several restaurants and hotels.
