It actually consists of six Christian monasteries, which are built on incredible natural sandstone pillars in central Greece. The location was an advantage for the monks, because they were saved from political upheaval and they had full control over the monasteries entry. To reach the entrance to the monasteries is very difficult, because it requires large nets or long ladders lashed together.
