For a bookworm, finding the perfect lamp and the perfect spot for books can be a pain. We discover soon enough that we do not have enough shelves for all our books, or that our shelves are too far from our bed when the fancy strikes us to read in bed. The light of the lamp is too bright or too dim. Or perhaps the lamp’s design does not help us sit in the optimum position when reading. In order to solve all these bookworm problems, the Lili Lite Bookshelf Lamp combines two important elements for avid readers: a lamp and a shelf.
The Lili Lite Bookshelf Lamp is an ingenious product created by Studio Smeets Design. Thijs Smeets, the founder of the studio, explained how he came up with this idea: “I came up with the idea when lying in bed putting a book away on my bedside table. There was so much stuff on there it all clattered on the floor. I thought; what if I could lie my book on my reading light? I took a pen and started sketching…”
This new lamp combines a bookmark, a lamp and a book shelf, all in one smart product. For starters, it allows you to store several books right above or near your bed, on the wall. In this way, you can reach them with more ease and without the danger of having them fall off your night table. It’s particularly useful if you are reading more than one book at the same time. It also has an angled area, so you can leave your book open without damaging it or needing a bookmark. Moreover, the undershelf has a light incorporated in it. When you place an open book on the shelf the light turns off and when you pick it up again it turns on.
