Wearable tech becomes more and more sought after as the months pass by. Smart technology becomes embedded in watches, bracelets and rings, intriguing and enticing potential buyers. It should come as no surprise that companies become more and more innovative in order to keep the spotlight. Cicret is a concept smart bracelet that turns the user’s arm into a touchscreen, getting rid of the physical display in this process.
At a first glance the bracelet closely resembles a fitness bracelet. Although, it does tick some of the same feature boxes, Cicret does more than that. The bracelet uses eight proximity sensors that point towards the user’s forearm and project an Android interface over the skin. The gadget features an accelerometer, vibration monitor and a LED for notifications. Moreover it is able to sync with the user’s smartphone using WiFi, Bluetooth and a Micro USB port.
The technology behind Cicret is still being developed. Despite having started a fundraising campaign, the company is also seeking funding from other sources as well in order to bring this wearable gadget to production stage. The team behind this concept is also seeking to develop the company’s secure messaging app. With €300,000 ($373,600) the company will be able to develop its app across all platforms. With €700,000 ($872,000) the company will have the funds it needs to continue working on the development of their bracelet.
If the Cicret bracelet manages to make it to the production stage, its retail price will be somewhere around €380 ($475). The current prototype features accelerometer, memory card, micro USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LED, 16GB or 32GB storage, 10 colors options and might receive a SIM card slot in the future as well, turning it into a standalone mobile device.
A fully functional prototype of the gadget is said to be unveiled in a few weeks. What do you think about the Cicret bracelet?
