Nathan Road is the oldest road in Kowloon, with its first section completed in 1861. However, this is hard to realize, as while wandering around its streets, you will see all the modern stores and tons of neon lights. Nathan Road was originally called Robinson Road, but because there was a similarly named place on Hong Kong Island, the street was renamed as Nathan Road in 1909, after Sir Matthew Nathan. Several tourists are coming to Nathan Road for the shopping opportunities. But, the several lighted signs are also worth to be seen.

This is a quiet and an attractive park with an interesting history. Several years ago, this park was the site of the mysterious Kowloon Walled City, a Chinese garrison in the 19th century. This means that it technically remained part of China throughout British ruling. Unfortunately, the government didn’t want to have anything to do with this land, so it became lawless slum infamous for prostitution, gangs and drug dens. In 1994 a beautiful park was built here, which you can see until now.
