Sometimes the space in our house does not allow us to have both a bed and a desk. This can be difficult for people who work from home, be it on a regular basis or only occasionally or for those who need a desk for their hobbies. In order to solve this problem, Mira Schroder created the WorkBed, that is either a bed or a desk, depending on what you need.
Some people need to come up with tricks to add both a bed and a desk in their homes due to lack of space. Others work long hours at the office and would rather have something to crash down on at their work place, instead of having to come back home late at night. People in both categories will be happy with the WorkBed.
This new invention by Mira Schroder and experimental studio BLESS fuses a bed and a desk in one piece of furniture. However, the innovation lies in the way the two sides of the invention can be accessed. Users simply have to flip the WorkBed around and get either the desk, or the bed.
As a desk, its surface is large enough to be able to work without problems and has enough storage on the sides for the occasional writing instruments and papers. In order to turn the WorkBed into a bed, you must simply press a button and the surface of the desk will rotate downwards, bringing a full fledged bed upwards. What’s more, turned over, the sheets of the bed are protected from getting dusty.
This type of furniture could be useful in other scenarios as well. It could be used in student dormitories, teenager bedrooms and even guest rooms, by simply transforming the desk into an extra bed. Would you like to add the WorkBed in your house?
