Mongolia is a beautiful and large country, situated between two large countries, Russia and China. Due to its location on plateaus and mountains, Mongolia is one of the world’s highest countries. Besides a unique setting, this country has a rich history, too. Genghis Khan is considered to be the main founder of Mongolia. He managed to unite many of the nomadic tribes of northeast Asia and with strength and power, he established the largest empire in the world. In 24 years Genghis Khan’s horsemen managed to conquer a larger area than the Romans did in four centuries.

Gorkhi-Terekj National Park is situated at about 70km north-east of Ulaanbaatar in the region of Tov Aimag. This beautiful park is one of the most popular destinations in Mongolia. In 1964, Terelj was first open for tourism and several years later it became a part of the Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. This area is a beautiful one, with alpine scenery and magnificent landscape. A famous sight at this National Park is the Turtle Rock. This actually is an interesting rock formation that is shaped like a turtle.

Another famous attraction that is mostly preferred by tourists is Bayanzag. This beautiful place is the bottom of the Ancient Sea that existed about 70 million years ago. Here were discovered a variety of Paleontological objects. Bayanzag is also known as Flaming Cliffs, named by Roy Andrew Chapman, an American explorer who visited Mongolia in 1920. He found 10 kinds of dinosaurs’ fossils and 8 of them were from Mongolia.
