Whenever their young children are at kindergarten or school, parents tend to worry something might happen to them. In order to help alleviate some of their fears LG came up with a nice looking tracking device that will dazzle children and relax parents. The KizON wristband was designed with pre-school and primary school children in mind. It tracks the child’s location in real-time.
LG has recently unveiled a new device that allows parents to track their children in real time by using a smartphone or tablet app. The KizON wristband used GPS and Wi-Fi to pinpoint the child’s location. As it does so, it sends the location to parents via a 2G or 3G mobile internet connection. The device also has a “One Step Direct Call” button. This allows children to call a pre-set number. Moreover, it can be programmed to accept calls only from pre-approved numbers.
“Children as well as the elderly are ideal customers for wearable technologies,” Dr Jong-seok Park, the chief executive of LG Electronics mobile explained. “Wearables allow us to stay connected without the worry of losing a device or the inconvenience of having to carry a large item in a pocket.”
The KizON looks like a rather bulky watch. It has a cute design that will endear itself to children who will want to keep it on. It comes in blue, green or pink. Moreover, it is water and stain resistant. A large range of accessories will be available to keep children entertained.
The device has a rated battery life of 36 hours. It also has an alert that will let parents know when the battery level drops under 25%. KizON will be available in South Korea in July. It will also be launched in the US and Europe during the third quarter of the year. A price remains to be announced. What do you think of this new tracking device?
