Whenever we go to the seaside, the one big problem we face is that our swimwear gets wet. In order to be able to go from the beach to a bar or our hotel without getting our car seat wet we have to wait until we dry. That, or we need to bring a change of clothes with us. In order to bypass these needs, entrepreneur Frank Shaw created swimwear that stays dry even while in the water.
Frank Shaw, from Toronto, Canada, decided he was tired of getting his car seats wet after spending a pleasurable day at the beach. So he came up with a novel idea. His Frank Anthony Swimwear is being funded through Kickstarter. After two weeks, it has already surpassed $10,000 goal and managed to raise $45,000. Talking about his project, 19 year old Frank Shaw, explained: “We wanted to create a garment that could transition from a day at the beach, to a workout at the gym and a night on the town all without having to change.”
The garments are made in Italy from Hydrophobic Nanotechnology fabric. This is a polyester blend that is able to repel all water-based substances in order to prevent absorption. Moreover, this technology will last as long as the garment. It will not fade and thus allow the swimwear to get wet. Frank Shaw further explained that: “When the garment is underwater the fabric creates an air surface around the shorts preventing water from seeping through the nanoscale whiskers.”
At the moment the swimwear is designed only for men. If the Kickstarter campaign will reach $55,000, a women’s line of swimwear will be added to the Frank Anthony line. The new additions will be made from the same material. “We want to create a unique garment which will allow women to feel comfortable in our shorts, whether they choose to wear them while swimming or over-top of their wet bikini,” Shaw added.
