How about floating above the ground while getting to the first floor of your home? This is just how this suspended staircase was envisioned and created to simply defy gravity and make you dream about stars while you get from one floor to another. Discover the suspended staircase and how you can integrate into your own home’s interior design.
This interesting and youthful suspended staircase was created by Haptic, a London architectural studio. The creative minds from Haptic designed and gave life not only to the amazing, suspended staircase, but also to the entire Idunsgate apartment in Oslo, Norway. The apartment is really colorful, youthful and features a minimalist interior design in which the suspended staircase comes with its own story.
In order to enhance the idea of space, the team from Haptic came up with the suspended staircase which seems to float along the ground of the Norwegian apartment. The staircase divides only symbolically the living room from the kitchen.
While following the staircase, you will observe that the staircase comes to an abrupt end, the final step simply being part of the décor of the room. Upstairs we will find a bedroom and a small, but elegant roof terrace. While being on the suspended staircase you can observe what happens down in the living room and what the space upstairs looks like. You will have the sensation of floating above the ground.
It seems that the suspended staircase represents the heart and soul of the entire apartment, transforming the space into an aesthetic and modern living space. The staircase is fully integrated in the minimalist décor. Would you dare to use such staircase design into your own home? While this is a youthful and modern approach, the staircase doesn’t seem safe for small children, so if you have kids you need to think twice before integrated the suspended staircase into your own home.
