Born in Lincolnshire, England, in 1642, Isaac Newton made a major contribution to the field of science and became the most influential scientist of the 17th century. He provided a very good understanding of optics and invented calculus. But that’s not all, as his biggest lifetime work actually had to do with forces and the development of a universal law of gravity.
Sir Isaac Newton was born not far ago after the death of Galileo, maybe one of the greatest scientists of all time. Galileo managed to prove that the planets revolve around the sun. Before his discovery, people thought that planets revolve around the earth. Isaac Newton was very fascinated with Galileo’s discoveries and decided to follow the path of science. He combined his ideas with the ideas of earlier scientists and unified a picture of how the universe works. The only way to prove those laws was through mathematics. With the help of math formulas, he formulated laws of gravitation and motion. He managed to explain how objects move when a force acts on them.
In 1687, in Principia, Sir Isaac Newton, published his famous book. In his book, he explained three basic laws of how objects move. He also described his theories and ideas about gravity. His three laws that explained the way objects moves were called Newton’s Laws.
In 1689, Isaac Newton was elected as a member of the parliament for the university. In 1703, he was named as president of the Royal Society and in 1705 he was knighted by Queen Anne. Sir Isaac Newton was never married. He died in the year 1727, at the age of 84. His body was moved in Westminster Abbey. During the exhumation, in his system was found a large amount of mercury, due to his work with alchemy.
