The Audi Shark is also called “the vehicle inspired by both motorcycles and aircrafts”. It’s aggressive, it’s beautiful and it’s futuristic. It really looks like it’s coming out of Science-Fiction movies and better yet, it promises to revolutionize the industry. But will it be developed until the end? It’s hard to tell, as many innovating ideas haven’t been fructified in the last decade or two. We see experiments, we see discoveries and inventions, but few of them reach the masses through marketing into the economy. How so? Big ideas seem crazy, but they are necessary for the development of mankind. Top companies usually donate large sums of money to develop new technologies. Audi is one of those companies and this time it really did something worth talking about.
Although the Audi Shark looks nautical it’s really built for flying. This is quite an opener for science, as flying cars have been conceptualized and dreamed since the yearly 1990, but never came to fruition. The Audi Shark was created by designer Kazim Doku. It was first presented in the 2008 Desire Design Competiton held by Italian Domus Academy, where it won first prize. It’s a two-seater with head and taillights built out of transparent tubes which integrate LED units. The cockpit resembles a sports car, so we can take a big guess for which category the Audi Shark is built for.
While some rush to conclude that the Audi Shark model is a glimpse of the future, others would like to hear more about what Kazim Doku has to offer. More detailed information is required, such as the engine type and on what principles will the Audi Shark fly. Can it use non-conventional fuels, such as solar and electric energy? Is it energy efficient?
Although spectacular, Audi needs to keep it real and stay on the ground, when it comes to promising the future of transportation. Kazim Doku showed a concept worthy to reach a top twenty, maybe even top ten, but only by concept and design. However, we would really enjoy driving an Audi Shark on a daily basis and we hope this project will reach production line.
Would you drive, pardon, fly the Audi Shark?
