Have you ever thought about buying a sofa which loses itself in the décor and becomes an invisible sofa? The invisible sofa we present you in this article is an interesting furniture piece, perfect for all the free spirited people out there or for those who just embrace the idea of novelty in their homes.
The invisible sofa isn’t just one, but it is part of an entire collection named Blurred Collection designed for the Italian company Moroso by the designer Marc Thorpe. The invisible sofa, with its official name Blur Sofa, is covered in a knitted material displaying a gradient pattern.
The designer described his invisible sofa as “a study of invisibility”. “Through the material suggestion of disappearance the Blur Sofa questions its objectivity, scale and the relationship between figure and ground. This distortion of mass provides the Blur Sofa with an irrefutable uncertainty of dimension. The Blur achieves this tactic of invisibility through its utilization of a new technique of fabric knitting.“, says Thorpe.
The upholstery fabric of the invisible sofa is printed with a special shaded effect going from fluorescent orange to white, as you can see in the picture above. The wish of both designer and producing company was “to push the limits of technology, material, form and space”. We believe the design intrigues and bewilders viewers and potential clients.
We would love to play with colors in our own living rooms and use this sofa as central piece. We believe that this invisible sofa gives a modern appearance to any room, and can transform any space into a statement about colors, nonconformist space and original view about life. Would you take an invisible sofa for your home?
