Did you know that both Gaudi and Dali have created furniture? If you don’t remember who the two are, let us refresh your memory. Antonio Gaudi (1852-1926) is an architect especially known for Sagrada Familia, the famous cathedral in Barcelona, Spain. Salvador Dali (1904-1989) is the famous Spanish painter known for his surreal work. It seems that both of these famous gentlemen designed some furniture pieces that look amazing even today.
The artistic furniture by the two artists is nowadays produced in very small series by a Spanish based company named BD Barcelona Design.
Antonio Gaudi created amazing pieces of furniture for Calvet House, but he didn’t stop to just furniture. He also created really artistic, metal accessories like these fabulous door handles. The architect simply combines art and mathematic techniques with fabulous furniture and accessories as a result.
The amazing thing is that another Spanish art wizard, Dali, has also designed some pieces of furniture and this happened in his Parisian period. Dali brought to life some fantastic pieces of furniture. He created the fabulous Bracelli model and the Dalilips couch. The Leda chair was inspired by his own painting “Femme á la tête rose” (1935) and the first prototype was produced in 1990 by BD Barcelona Design.
The Spanish design company has the legal right to produce in small series the artistic furniture designed by the two famous artists. What style of furniture would you choose: the plastic, organic forms of Gaudi or the eccentric models of Dali?
