The new Cadillac ELR looks amazing and is already prepared to hit the market in January. It’s only a matter of time until top players will just burst at the showrooms and order a new Cadillac ELR, each. This is no surprise, as General Motors did quite a good job on its previous success, the Chevy Volt. Unfortunately, the Cadillac ELR is a bit expensive, almost 76 000 dollars. As a result only certain groups will have access to this car. Even though many of us can only dream to drive such a car, it’s worth to put down some special details.
Cadillac ELR is a luxury electric-vehicle, powered by Lithium ion-batteries. It can store up to 16.5 Wh of power, giving the Cadillac 35 miles of 100%-electric driving range. Soon after the 1.4 liter gasoline kicks in and powers the car. The battery is fully recharged after 4.5 hours, using a 240 V outlet. Of course, the Cadillac ELR doesn’t exclude the usage of the latest in-board technologies, such as gesture recognition, proximity sensing and the CUE touch-screen interface. In total, the engine generates 295 pound-feet of torque, similar to BMW’s 1992 Model, the 7th Series. The engine is also fed via a 1.4-liter range extender, which acts like a generator. The cabin is built with leather upholstery, carbon fiber elements, microfiber, wood and chrome trimmings.
The 2014 Volt-Based Cadillac ELR Electric Coupe is scheduled to hit production line in January, as a limited edition. Sources, such as Automotto.com, stated that the vehicle’s price will be somewhere between 52,000 – 65, 000 dollars. Of course, the price will depend on the additional features each buyer would like to have set on his/her own Cadillac ELR.
For people who dream of having this car, but don’t have the money, don’t worry. Maybe in a few years the prices will drop, but other better cars will appear. What can we say? Let us congratulate General Motors for its success and wish its team all the best and good luck for future developments. Would you take a loan to buy this car?
