Children are a handful to watch. They are full of energy and have an uncanny ability to disappear when we least expect it. Moreover, as they get older, they do not approve to be supervised as if they were still toddlers. In order to make both parents and children happy, AT&T and Filip Technologies have come up with an ingenious idea. They decided to combine children’s passion for gadgets and parents’ desire to have a locator device. The result is a FilLIP child locator smartwatch. This new device will be launched on the US market in the following months.
AT&T will be the exclusive network provider for the device. They will also handle the distribution and billing of the FilLIP smartwatch. The device will be used for location detection, voice calling and direct messaging. The locator smartwatch will be controlled by the parent’s smartphone. Parents will be able to add five trusted numbers to the child’s FilLIP smartwatch. These numbers can be called by the child when the need arises.
The FilLIP child locator smartwatch can also be used to designate safe zones. As a result the user of the device will be allowed to explore such safe zones. Parents can also set a destination. The device will announce parents when their child has reached said destination.
The FilLIP smartwatch also has an Emergency option. In such a case the child needs to press a red button for three seconds. A text message will automatically be sent to the parent. The device will start recording. The smartwatch will ring the five trusted numbers until one of them picks up.
The FilLIP smartwatch looks like a normal watch with a brightly colored bracelet. It is aimed for children aged 4 to 11 years old. Filip Technologies’ founder Sten Kirkbak lost his three year old son for thirty minutes and that is why he decided to design this device. Would your child agree to wear it?
