With pollution becoming an increasingly serious problem, more and more people are turning their attention towards green cars. In order to decide how good a green car actually is, new standards and regulations have been issued. 2013 cars will support a certain label that lets people know how harmful they are to the environment. 1. Mitsubishi i-MiEV
The Mitsubishi i-MiEV is a five door electric car produced by Mitsubishi Motors. It is considered one of the best green cars. This vehicle has one of the highest MPGes (Miles Per Gallon equivalent): 112 – 126 miles per gallon in the city and 99 on the highway. The car’s top speed is 130 km/h ( 80 mph ).
2. Nissan Leaf
Another impressive vehicle on our list of amazing green cars is the Nissan Leaf, another five door electric car. It has an MPGe of 99 ( 106 in the city and 92 on the highway ) and can reach up to 150km/h ( 93 mph ). This car operates at $1.02 at every 25 miles.
3. Smart fortwo electric drive
The Smart fortwo electric drive is the battery electric vehicle version of the well known Smart Fortwo city car. It can reach up to 120 km/h ( 75 mph ). A fully charged battery will allow you to drive for 135 km. You can also run it on gas. Its combined MPGe score is 87.
4. Toyota Prius
The Toyota Prius is one of the best green cars running on gasoline-electric propulsion. It’s combine MPGe is 50, with 51 in the city and 49 on the highway.
