Kış Mevsimi: The Magic of Winter in Turkey
1(Image source: Best Tourism )
Kış Mevsimi are the two words that define the winter season in Turkey. The climate in Turkey is very different, thus leading to various types of weather in different parts of the country. The coastal areas that are bordered by the Mediterranean Sea and the Aegean Sea are part of the temperate Mediterranean climate, therefore winters are mostly mild and wet. The areas that are bordered by the Black Sea are prone to very wet winters, while those bordered by the Sea of Marmara are most likely to see colder winters. In the arid interior the climate is much harsher and defined mostly by contrasting seasons.
However, despite the huge differences in climate, winter in Turkey can be a magical experience. If you want to have the time of your life and see a different face of the country, try visiting it during the kış mevsimi, especially in January. For starters, there is no better time that allows you to truly appreciate a Turkish bath. Add a steaming cup of tea to this experience and you are both warm and ready for your Turkish adventure. Don’t forget to see their wonderful carpets!
If you want to enjoy an incredible cultural experience, start with Istanbul. Make sure to visit Hagia Sophia and don’t forget to try roasted chestnuts in order to warm yourself up. Some Turkish cities, like Davras, see the same amount of snow as most European destinations. If you are a fan of winter sports, you can try them out. They will definitely make your experience an unforgettable one!
